The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, April 5, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Cameron Doerksen raised his share targets for Canadian National Railway to $190 from $172 and Canadian Pacific Kansas City to $121 from $112. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that analyst on average target CN and CPKC shares at $179.15 and $119.72. Mr. Doerksen rates both railway operators "sector perform." Mr. Doerksen says in a note: "We maintain our neutral stances on both CN and CPKC ahead of Q1/24 earnings releases later in April. While Q1 saw some winter-related operational challenges for both rails, particularly early in the quarter, there have been some encouraging signs in recent volume trends, especially for international intermodal. We nevertheless do not find current valuations compelling." The Globe reported on March 28 that CIBC World Markets analyst Kevin Chiang rated Canadian National Railway "neutral," while rating Canadian Pacific Kansas City "outperformer." CN and CPKC shares could then be had for $178.63 and $118.72.
