The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that RBC Dominion Securities analyst Walter Spracklin has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Canadian Pacific Kansas City. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Spracklin's share target advanced $6 to $133. Analysts on average target CPKC shares at $119.19. Mr. Spracklin continues to rate Canadian National Railway "sector perform." Mr. Spracklin boosted his CN share target by $7 to $171. Analysts on average target CN shares at $178.77. Mr. Spracklin says CPKC outperformed its North American peers in the first quarter of 2024 following "solid" fiscal results and commentary that pricing remains strong, "setting the stage for meaningful operating leverage during the remainder of the year." Mr. Spracklin says in a note: "CPKC continues to trade at a premium to the group, reflecting company specific opportunities on the back of the KCS acquisition, which we expect to drive meaningful EPS growth outperformance in the medium term. ... CN trades closer to in line with the group average valuation, in our view resulting from Canadian West Coast port headwinds offset by solid operating performance and attractive long-term opportunities."
