The Financial Post reports in its Friday, March 8, edition that Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is reorganizing its executive ranks, fuelling succession rumours. The Post's Christine Dobby writes that according to the announcement made on Thursday, the current chief financial officer, Hratch Panossian, will take up an operational role as the head of the personal and business banking business. Mr. Panossian will be accountable to both chief executive officer Victor Dodig and Jon Hountalas, the group head of Canadian banking. Mr. Dodig has been leading CIBC since September, 2014. However, there has been speculation about who could replace him in recent months. Last year, Laura Dottori-Attanasio, who was one of the potential candidates to replace Mr. Dodig, left her position as the head of Canadian banking. She later became the CEO of Element Fleet Management. Jefferies analyst John Aiken says: "Victor's been CEO for a decade. So, it looks like they're shuffling the pieces around a little bit and hopefully getting some interesting names some different experience. My gut is telling me that this isn't the move where Victor's stepping out the door next month. But it definitely does start the timeline."
