The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, March 7, edition that Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is shaking up its leadership, aimed at developing key senior executives and strengthening the lender's growth strategy. The Globe's Stefanie Marotta writes that the move is being made as chief executive officer Victor Dodig and the board prepare for an eventual succession. The recent reshuffling of the senior ranks of the bank involved three executives who were being considered for the position of CEO. Hratch Panossian, who served as the chief financial officer, will now take on a new role in the Canadian banking division. The responsibilities of Harry Culham, who was the head of capital markets, have been expanded to include new mandates. Meanwhile, Shawn Beber will continue in his current role as the head of the bank's U.S. division. Mr. Dodig has been in the top seat for a decade. Mr. Dodig, however, has no plans to retire. He says, "Having started as a teller here, the bank's particularly dear to me, so I want to do everything to make sure that the bank continues to perform and we have that deep talent pool so when the board decides what they want to decide, they can make that decision with great comfort."
