Globe says little-known Chorus shoots into spotlight

2026-09-17 09:41 ET - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that analyst James McGarragle at RBC Capital Markets calls Halifax-based Chorus Aviation his "best idea." Globe columnist Gordon Pape writes that Mr. McGarragle described Chorus (now $28.30) as a "compelling value opportunity with significant growth catalysts" and raised his target price for the stock by $4 to $39 a share. Chorus is little known to the public, but anyone who travels is probably familiar with Jazz, the largest regional airline in Canada, which operates under the Air Canada Express brand. Chorus owns Jazz. It also owns Voyageur Aviation, a provider of specialty charter, aircraft modifications, parts provisioning and in-service support services. Other aspects of its business are Cygnet Aviation Academy, an accredited training academy preparing pilots for direct entry into airlines, and Elisen & Associates, a provider of aerospace engineering and certification services. The stock has been trading in the red for most of the past five years, but is up 30 per cent since Jan. 1. The company reported strong second-quarter results. Operating revenue was $349.4-million, up 7.6 per cent from $324.6-million in the same period last year. Mr. Pape says "buy."
