The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Nov. 24, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Adam Shine has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for Cineplex. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Shine knocked his share target back by a loonie to $13.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $13.10. The Globe says Mr. Landry was not surprised by Cineplex's decision to divest of its Player One Amusement Group business to OpenGate Capital for $155-million, calling it their "most easily salable asset." Mr. Landry says in a note: "The prospect of delevering being accelerated by an asset sale had begun to be discussed earlier this year. We wrote in a July 17 highlight that investors may welcome a sale of one or both of Cineplex's B2B units, Player One Amusement and Cineplex Digital Media. We had noted, however, that the latter still needs time to recover following COVID and a pivot in strategy. ... We had expected a price potentially above $200-million later in 2024. Cineplex has entered into a long-term agreement with Player One Amusement which will continue to supply & service amusement games to its theatres and LBE locations."
