The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 21, edition that CIBC World Markets paper and forest products analyst Hamir Patel has downgraded Canfor Pulp Products to "neutral" from "outperformer." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Patel gave his share target a 75-cent trim to $2.75. Analysts on average target the shares at $3.75. Mr. Patel says in a note, "With pulp prices expected to remain challenging over the remainder of 2023, we have reduced our EBITDA estimate by $50-million this year and by 5 per cent next year." The Globe reported on March 3, 2022, and April 8, 2022, that RBC Capital Markets analyst Paul Quinn rated Canfor Pulp "sector perform." Canfor Pulp shares were then worth $5.09 and $4.91. The Globe reported on July 19, 2022, that Mr. Quinn had elevated his recommendation for Canfor Pulp to "outperform" from "sector perform." The shares could then be had for $5.64. The Globe reported on May 2 that Mr. Patel has raised his recommendation for Canfor Pulp to "outperformer" from "neutral" with a $3.50 share target. The shares could then be had for $2.22.
