The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, April 16, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Jerome Dubreuil has reaffirmed his "hold" recommendation for Cogeco Communications. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Dubreuil cut his share target by $4 to $64. Analysts on average target the shares at $70.40. Mr. Dubreuil believes that efficiency will be crucial for Cogeco Communications, citing significant long-term competitive challenges domestically and uncertainty surrounding its Breezeline cable operator's launch of wireless services in the United States. While its second quarter 2024 results, released after the bell on Thursday met his expectations, he expects Cogeco Communications will "face sustained competition for several years as BCE is looking to build market share on its FTTH footprint." He says in a note: "In the U.S., we believe AT&T's FWA [fixed wireless access] could limit the near-term cableco upside created by the expected deceleration of Verizon's and T-Mobile's FWA efforts. We also expect FTTH overbuild to continue to affect cable subscriber net additions in the U.S. ... We are still uncertain as to what advantage Cogeco has over larger cableco peers."
