The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that Scotia Capital analyst Maher Yaghi continues to rate Cogeco Communications "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Yaghi lowered his share target by $7.50 to $75.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $76.57. The Globe says Mr. Yaghi believes wireless performance could be the "home run that turns things around" for Canadian telecommunications companies. Mr. Yaghi says in a note: "Cogeco continues to slowly ramp up operations to launch wireless services in Canada. We see Cogeco trying to follow the same playbook as Comcast by using wireless as a retention tool rather than a profit generating service. Bundling wireline and wireless has the potential to reduce churn by around 0.3 to 0.5 per cent, a meaningful reduction as long as you can run wireless operations to be at least breakeven. The shares are trading at a sizable discount to fair value, but we await more details on its wireless playbook."
