The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Dec. 20, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst Krista Friesen has elevated her recommendation for Boyd Group Services to "outperformer" from "neutral." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Ms. Friesen's share target soared $21 to $306. Analysts on average target the shares at $288.36. Ms. Friesen says in a note: "Our upgrade of Boyd reflects: a) Boyd's current valuation. While we acknowledge Boyd's shares have performed well in 2023, we do still see opportunity in the name. Boyd is currently trading at 10.3 times 2025 consensus EBITDA versus a historical average of 13 times; b) We continue to see improving industry dynamics with Boyd investing in its technician development program, which should in turn help increase capacity to meet the strong market demand; and c) Lastly, through the back half of this decade we see a significant opportunity within scanning and calibration as Boyd looks to insource more of this work, which should provide a boost to margins." The Globe reported on April 26, 2022, and Nov. 15, 2023, that Ms. Friesen continued to rate Boyd Group "neutral." The shares could then be had for $159.78 and $250.17.
