The Globe and Mail reports in its Monday, Aug. 3, edition that CIBC Asset Management portfolio manager Craig Jerusalim likes Brookfield Asset Management, a private equity firm specializing in acquisitions and growth capital investments. The Globe's regular columnist Brenda Bouw writes that Mr. Jerusalim has recently been buying more of the company's shares. He notes that Brookfield Asset shares have declined alongside peer alternative asset managers due to concerns about artificial intelligence disrupting their software businesses. However, Brookfield Asset's software exposure is under 1 per cent of its assets, unlike many peers. He notes that it hasn't needed to gate any funds and anticipates a record year for fund raising. Mr. Jerusalim says Brookfield Asset is likely to benefit considerably from ongoing AI investments in infrastructure, energy, real estate and data. Mr. Jerusalim says: "At times we've been overweight the asset manager, and other times we've been overweight the parent, Brookfield Corp. But today we see tremendous opportunities in both of them and are overweight both compared with the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index."
