The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, May 16, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Maxim Sytchev continues to rank Bird Construction "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Sytchev gave his share target a $2 trim to $28. Analysts on average target the shares at $32.19. Mr. Sytchev says in a note: "We've been fielding many questions around the reason(s) for Bird Construction's recent share price moves. Year-to-date shares are down 4 per cent vs. TSX at up 4 per cent but the amplitude has been pretty wide. We did not have the mental (or more precisely psychological) fortitude to upgrade in April when shares hit $18; now with the stock having moved up, we are back to square one -- relatively expanded valuation (on solid execution, mind you) and another missed opportunity, balanced with a H2/25E-weighted outlook." The Globe reported on March 14 that Mr. Sytchev had reaffirmed his "sector perform" recommendation for Bird Construction. The shares could then be had for $21.51. The Globe reported on April 23 that Raymond James analyst Frederic Bastien had upgraded Bird Construction to "strong buy" from "outperform." The shares could then be had for $20.64.
