The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that RBC Capital's Global Financials Research Group has named Brookfield Asset Management one of its "Best Stock Ideas." The Globe's David Leeder writes that RBC analyst Geoffrey Kwan rates Brookfield Asset Management "outperform," with a share target of $41 (U.S.). Mr. Kwan says in a note: "Brookfield Asset currently has no principal investments, making it one of, if not the most asset light, within [its] peer group. Even though Brookfield recently discussed making some principal investments (LP commitments to non-flagship/non-Oaktree funds; seeding new strategies), we still think Brookfield is likely to remain one of the most asset light vs. peers, which we think given [its] scale, strong investment track record, growth potential and attractive dividend yield should positively benefit its share price." The Globe reported on Jan. 9 and Feb. 10 that RBC Dominion Securities analyst Geoffrey Kwan had reiterated his "outperform" call for Brookfield when it could be had for $29.78 (Canadian) and $47.09 (Canadian). In the Feb. 10 item, Mr. Kwan said Brookfield was his No. 3 best idea for 2023.
