The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that Stifel analyst Martin Landry has reaffirmed his "buy" call for Aritzia. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Landry boosted his share target to $42, matching the consensus, from $34. Mr. Landry believes that a lack of brand awareness in the United States suggests a "long growth runway" for Aritzia. He argues that its future success will be determined by its execution south of the border given "it is a market with significant white spaces for the company." Mr. Landry recently conducted a survey of 425 women in the U.S. to get insights on the Vancouver-based clothing retailer, finding minimal brand awareness but improving perception. Mr. Landry says in a note: "Our survey results suggest that Aritzia's aided brand awareness in the U.S. is low with only 14 per cent of respondents recognizing the brand. However, we view this result positively as it suggests a long growth runway for Aritzia in the United States. Further, we believe that continued store network expansion could drive brand awareness higher toward other apparel brands such as Lululemon, H&M, and Zara, which all have aided brand awareness above 50 per cent, according to our survey results."
