The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Sept. 17, edition that BMO Capital analyst Tariq Saad has lowered his recommendation for Athabasca Oil to "market perform" from "outperform." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Saad continues to target the shares at $12.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $12.83. Mr. Saad says in a note: "We are downgrading Athabasca Oil as the shares are now within the 10-per-cent threshold of our target price. The company boasts one of the strongest growth trajectories amongst its peer group. That said, we suspect Leismer cash flow potential will be tempered by the asset transitioning to post-payout in H1/28. We see longer-term upside via the company's Corner development, but this likely won't be realized until late-2029. Over the near term, we believe Athabasca Oil's premium valuation could limit further share price outperformance." The Globe reported on July 17 that Desjardins Securities commenced coverage on Athabasca Oil with a "balanced risk-reward" ranking. The shares could then be had for $10.63. The Globe reported on Sept. 11 that RBC Capital analyst Greg Pardy had reiterated his "sector perform" rating for Athabasca Oil. The were then going for $10.87.
