Last week's CERAWeek energy conference highlighted the administration's "drill, baby, drill" policies, emphasizing natural gas for data centres and artificial intelligence computing while ramping up already-record oil production levels. Industry players welcomed the end of restrictions on liquefied natural gas exports and offshore drilling set by former President Joe Biden. Mr. Trump's energy and interior secretaries criticized previous pushes to rapidly shift from fossil fuels to green energy, claiming they hindered economic growth without significant benefits. The major focus of the week was "hyperscalers" -- companies such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon planning to build massive, power-thirsty server farms. Last year, Constellation Energy signed a 20-year deal with Microsoft to power data centres by restarting a unit at the Three Mile Island nuclear plant in Pennsylvania.
