The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that National Bank analyst Cameron Doerksen has an unchanged "outperform" call on Air Canada. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Doerksen gave his share target a $3 trim to $32. Analysts on average target the shares at $31.23. The Globe says Mr. Doerksen believes concerns for Air Canada are already baked in to the stock. Mr. Doerksen says in a note: "Investor concerns around the ability of the consumer to sustain strong demand for air travel are understandable, but air travel demand and pricing still look solid into early 2024 while capacity in the domestic and U.S. transborder markets remain constrained. Higher jet fuel prices have also weighed on sentiment for airline stocks, but prices are off their recent peaks and Air Canada is in a much better position to manage for higher fuel prices than most of its competitors that have fewer yield levers to pull. ... Demand for air travel continues to be resilient with passenger traffic in Canada tracking close to 2019 levels as of late and running ahead of 2019 for much of August and September." The Globe reported on Aug. 15 that Mr. Doerksen kept his Air Canada rating at "outperform." It was then worth $23.25.
