The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that Stifel analyst Ingrid Rico has reiterated her "buy" recommendation for Barrick Gold. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Ms. Rico gave her share target a $1.50 trim to $32. Analysts on average target the shares at $34.35. Ms. Rico says in a note: "Last week, Barrick hosted its Investor Day and rolled out a new five-year outlook. The prior 2022 Investor Day had higher overall production expectations. ... Overall, the session serves as a recalibration of expectations after some notable operating challenges. ... Management reiterated commitment to unlocking further value from its portfolio and achieving organic production growth. ... In our view, the recalibration of expectations is a much-needed element for a path toward regaining investors' favourable sentiment and conviction in the name. We are lowering our target price to $32 but don't lose sight of Barrick's cash-flow generation tied to a number of Top Tier assets. Operational setbacks and higher reinvestment have obscured the investment thesis but we believe improving depressed valuation and higher conviction in go-forward FCF can come from improving operational performance."
