2015-05-28 09:40 ET - News Release

Mr. Duane Anderson reports

EDGEWATER WIRELESS RECEIVES NOTICE OF ALLOWANCE OF U.S. PATENT

Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. has received notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for U.S. patent application on automatic gain control (AGC) for multichannel/wideband communications systems.

"The team at Edgewater Wireless continues to create innovative new technology to optimize performance and quality of service in wireless networks," said Duane Anderson, chairman and chief technology officer of Edgewater Wireless. "The award of this patent further validates our technology leadership and demonstrates why Edgewater Wireless is uniquely positioned to solve the major issues service providers face for delivering WiFi in high-density scenarios."

The average user in North America has 2.9 WiFi-enabled devices -- smart phones, tablets and laptops -- the proliferation of devices has created exponential demand for data and connectivity mainly due to bandwidth intensive data applications like video and voice over WiFi (VoWiFI). Edgewater's multichannel WiFi3 AP architecture provides the highest possible WiFi system performance in high-density environments such as stadiums, casinos, shopping centres and campuses. Edgewater Wireless's new automatic gain control technology ensures when new users connect with their tablet, smart phone or other wireless device to an Edgewater Wireless access point that they will automatically be optimized for the highest possible quality of service and performance.

"We're increasingly seeing service providers looking to solve the issues of interference, connectivity and QoS that exist in high-density WiFi environments. These issues are starting to dominate the $26.1-billion WiFi market and Edgewater Wireless is uniquely positioned to address these issues. Where others are static in the advancement of their technology we are building innovative new ways to maximize WiFi performance and QoS," said Andrew Skafel, chief executive officer of Edgewater Wireless. "Beyond the obvious technical advantages we gain with this new patent award, its addition to our patent portfolio instantly creates more value and revenue potential to the licensing side of our business "

Edgewater's WiFi3-powered technology is the best WiFi solution for carriers, service providers and systems integrators to address the growing problems of interference, capacity and critical mass of users which is stretching networks to their breaking point. Edgewater's patented technology solves the high-density problem while also significantly reducing the equipment investment and operating costs for new network deployments.
