Brien Lundin, in the April, 2014, edition of the Gold Newsletter, refreshes his buy of Endeavour Mining Corp., recently 82 cents. Mr. Lundin said buy Endeavour in December, 2002, at $1.68 and in May, 2003, at $1.80. He said take some profits -- perhaps sell half -- in May, 2006, at $7.93. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each buy, selling half of the $2,000 position at $7.93 yielded a profit of $3,420. Mr. Lundin said buy eight more times between February, 2009, and December, 2013, at prices ranging from 54 cents to $2.76. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the eight new buys and taking into consideration the $1,000 investment left after the half sale, the $9,000 position is now worth $4,774. The company produced 324,275 ounces of gold in 2013, up from 220,462 ounces in 2012. It expects to produce up to 440,000 ounces in 2014. The newsletter editor says one big point of concern in the company's financials for fiscal 2013 was a $332.5-million net loss. He says although the number is eye-catching, it was accounted for almost entirely by a $333.1-million non-cash charge resulting from a writedown on the fair value of financial instruments. Mr. Lundin tells his readers the writedown is unlikely to slow down Endeavour's plans to increase production in 2014.
