Former Scotia Capital Inc. employee Donna Molby has filed a lawsuit against the firm in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, claiming that Scotia Capital wrongfully dismissed her in an effort to get her $166-million book of business. She claims that she lost significant portion of her clients as a result of Scotia Capital's conduct. She is seeking damages for that loss as well as for wrongful dismissal.

The allegations from Ms. Molby, 54, are contained in a notice of claim that she filed at the Vancouver courthouse on March 6, 2018. She identifies herself as an employee of Scotia Capital from 1990 to 2016, and says that her performance was exemplary. According to the suit, she had the title of senior wealth adviser and was one of the firm's top earners on an annual basis. In her last year at Scotia Capital, she earned $3.7-million from a $166-million book of business.
