Mr. Andre Larente reports
DIAGNOS ANNOUNCES A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH THE LARGEST PRIVATE HOSPITAL GROUP IN LATIN AMERICA TO UNBURDEN DIABETES IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM
Diagnos Inc. has entered an alliance with Centro Diagnostico Angeles.
Centro Diagnostico Angeles, part of Grupo Angeles Servicios de Salud, is a diagnostic centre located in Mexico City, created to outsource health services for main public health institutions in the country. The centre is part of a network of private health care services that includes 15,000 physician specialists with a total of 55 medical specialties. It was established in 1986 and focuses on technological advancement in its services while maintaining high-quality patient experiences and services.
"Through this alliance, Centro Diagnostico Angeles, recognizing the power of CARA (computer-assisted retinal analysis), plans to provide retina screening services for the national diabetes program run by the main public health institution in Mexico: IMSS. To begin, Diagnos will screen 16,000 patients in an 18-month period. Based on the results of this pilot, the screening program may be extended in both length and number of patients, with a target of opening at least three more points of service within Mexico City," said Guillermo Moreno, director of business development at Diagnos.
"Approximately 0.1 per cent of an unscreened diabetic population will go blind each year, and our screening solution will help to avoid at least 85 per cent of these blindness cases. Each patient who retains their sight and avoids chronic complications caused by diabetes represents a yearly cost savings for the Mexican public health institution of 300,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $20,000 (U.S.))," added Mr. Moreno.
We seek Safe Harbor.
