2015-04-08 12:27 ET - News Release

Mr. Mike Bisson reports

MAGNA FACILITY SITS WITH THE BEST

Magna International Inc.'s Louisville Seating Systems manufacturing division has achieved the production milestone of one million sets of automobile seats manufactured. Louisville Seating started producing complete seat sets in April, 2012, for the Ford Escape, and since then has expanded its customer base to help reach the million mark.

"I am extremely proud of our team's hard work and commitment to delivering high-quality vehicle seat sets to our customers," said Steve Alderson, general manager, Louisville Seating Systems. "This milestone reflects our employees' daily commitment and dedication to quality, delivery and world-class manufacturing."

Louisville Seating Systems, a 140,000-square-foot operation with approximately 450 employees, performs complete seat assembly, as well as just-in-time sequencing and delivery. In addition to the Ford Escape, the plant produces the complete seats for the Lincoln MKC and also supplies foam seat pads to Magna's facility in Spring Hill, Tenn. The Louisville facility uses a variety of advanced manufacturing processes and materials, including flexible colour capabilities and recyclable biopoly foam.

"We have the capability to provide customers with a variety of seating technologies, from innovative lightweight material solutions to complete seat assembly, as reflected in this milestone," said Mike Bisson, Magna Seating president. "Congratulations to the entire Louisville Seating Systems team."

Magna is a market leader in seating technology and supplies automakers with products ranging from intricately engineered seat mechanisms to complete seat systems. Magna has been at the forefront of seating innovations by introducing new technologies such as the industry-first Stow 'n Go seating system and the segment-redefining Sedan Slouch rearview sedan seat concept.
