Vancouver promoter David Sidoo, awaiting sentencing in the United States for cheating the U.S. college admissions system, has asked that the judge impose a jail term of no more than three months. He claims to have "made a tremendous mistake," one that arose "out of misplaced love for his sons." He says that he has suffered plenty already, with his reputation damaged and his work with public companies effectively done.

The request from Mr. Sidoo, 61, comes four months after he pleaded guilty to criminal charges in Boston. Prosecutors claimed that he paid to improve the scores of his children on the SAT tests when they were seeking admission to U.S. institutions. He had a Florida man write the tests in place of his sons. Mr. Sidoo is one of 50 individuals charged in the case, with some of his co-defendants being U.S. celebrities (a situation that has, of course, led to considerable public interest in the matter).

The proposed 90-day sentence is contained in a memorandum that Mr. Sidoo filed through his lawyer on Friday, July 10, in federal court in Boston. As with most such memorandums, the document portrays Mr. Sidoo in the best light possible, setting out his work with charities and his efforts at "giving back to the community." It also includes letters of support from friends, among them former federal Liberal MP Herb Dhaliwal and TSN reporter Farhan Lalji.

Nice to see what goes around comes around.... this smart ass burned many many people in Vancouver and abroad.

He only gave to charity to rape and pillage others. Wolf in sheeps clothing.

Even if he does 3 months, rest assured that many people will be celebrating. JB
