Halloween came early for gold bugs. Bullion got spooked early this morning -- not that the past three months have been any great shakes -- as New York spot gold fell $146.10 to $3,874.30 as North American stock markets wrapped up their last session of the week and the month. The TSX Venture Exchange ended October on a dour note, dropping 22.86 points to 803.78, while the TSX gold index slid 43.74 points to 768.69. It was a downward dash for most miners today. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) fell $2.06 to $20.11 on 2.38 million shares, and Iamgold Corp. (IMG) dropped $1.85 to $21.53 on 3.49 million shares.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) closed its $9.2-million placement at an opportune time, as its sale of 6.06 million flow-through shares at $1.62 closed ahead of its stock dropping two cents to $1.17 on 553,000 shares today. The new cash will find its way to the Surebet zone of the Golddigger project in northwestern British Columbia.
