New York spot gold retreated Wednesday, taking a break at $4,284.40, down $72.40 on the day. The TSX Venture Exchange slid 15.07 points to 924.73, while the TSX gold index slumped 38.61 points to 942.63. Investors shrugged off news yesterday that Eldorado Silver Corp. (EDR) is having to repair its ball mill at Guanacevi in Durango, Mexico, as it added 58 cents to $14.79 on two million shares, but a delayed reaction today sent the stock down $1.74 to $13.05 on 4.05 million shares.
Louis Castro and Brad George's Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI) slid 5.5 cents to 36.5 cents on 447,000 shares Tuesday and it slumped another eight cents to 29 cents on 2.68 million shares today. The crash followed word that Orosur is selling 43.75 million shares at 32 cents apiece, seeking $14-million. As well as the discount to market -- well, there was a discount until TSX-V buyers carved out a discount of their own -- the owners of the new shares get one-half of a warrant, each full two-year warrant exercisable at 45 cents. The cash, the company says, will go to its Anza project in Colombia.
