New York spot gold added $36.80 Friday, ending the week at $4,377.10. The TSX Venture Exchange added 3.46 points to 923.07 while the TSX gold index slipped 2.54 points to 954.48. There were some noteworthy movers today despite an absence of news. Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI) ran to 50 cents before ending the day up 6.75 cents to 43 cents on 3.75 million shares. Kinross Gold Corp. (K), down 62 cents to $39.25 on 9.39 million shares, helped lead the downward drive.

Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC) was strong, adding $2.23 to $32.30 on 3.5 million shares, but it had news. The company's new Kurmuk mine in Ethiopia, now in commissioning, has been connected to the power grid. Kurmuk crushed its first ore earlier this month and work is progressing toward a first gold pour in the coming weeks, the company says.

Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) jumped 18 cents to $1.73 on 993,000 shares on word it has drilled a 16.01-metre interval grading 6.34 grams of gold and 5.31 grams of silver per tonne, along with slight amounts of base metals, in the Bonanza zone of its Surebet discovery, on the Golddigger project in the golden triangle of northwestern British Columbia.
