New York spot gold rose $46.20 Wednesday, pausing for air at $4,400.80. The TSX Venture Exchange edged lower, dropping 2.66 points to 956.98, while the TSX gold index added 11.05 points to 976.3. Most precious metals miners gained ground today. Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG) jumped 46 cents to $8.34 on 481,000 shares in silence, while equally mum Mining Americas Inc. (MAI) gained three cents to $6.31 on 975,000 shares. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG), on the other hand, fell $1.04 to $96.57 on 1.08 million shares.

And now for the news: Benoit La Salle's Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) gained $1.11 to $41.27 on 1.44 million shares on an updated preliminary economic assessment (PEA) of its Boumadine project in Morocco. The study is based on 8.58 million tonnes indicated at 1.93 grams of gold and 122 grams of silver per tonne and another 45.4 million tonnes inferred at 1.82 grams of gold and 56.8 grams of silver per tonne. In all, Boumadine hosts nearly 3.2 million ounces of gold and over 116 million ounces of silver. Of that, roughly half the ounces are in open-pittable rock.
