New York spot gold advanced again today, adding $47.90 to reach $4,650.30, a push that has bullion $600 higher this month. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.56 point to 993.93 while the TSX gold index added 12.96 points, ending the day at 1,023. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG) did well today, adding $3.98 to $104.78 on 1.02 million shares, while Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN) was among the laggards, as it dipped 22 cents to $12.15 on 6.47 million shares.
Dan Dickson's Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) rose 30 cents to $14.92 on 2.09 million shares on word that the illegal blockade at its Terronera mine in Mexico has been removed and the mine is running again. Further, the company continues to work with the local Ejido community to support stable, long-term operations. There is no word about how the roadblock came to be removed or what the locals thought about its removal. And so, the market's response suggests investors hope that the locals pulled the blockade down themselves, smiling about great progress being made in the talks.
