New York spot gold slipped $11.70 to $4,005.60 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 5.12 points to 849.77 while the TSX gold index lost 2.33 points to 702.54. Golds with a copper tinge did well: Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) added $1.42 to $35.31 on 575,000 shares and Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) rose 99 cents to $34.15 on 3.6 million shares. Meridian Mining PLC (MNO) dropped four cents to $1.43 on 551,000 shares.

Patrick Downey's Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) added 10 cents to $2.21 on 2.19 million shares on word that it has resumed operations at its Casa Berardi mine in Quebec. Work halted a week ago because of a nearby wildfire. Not everyone bugged out: A group of workers stayed behind -- the term "skeleton crew" is a bit disquieting under the circumstances -- to complete some maintenance previously scheduled for later in the year. As a result, the time saved compensates for the time lost by the stoppage, and so Orezone is reaffirming its 2026 production guidance of between 62,000 and 67,000 ounces of gold this year.
