New York spot gold added $19.50 to $4,733.20 Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 8.26 points to 1,006 while the TSX gold index leapt 29.68 points to 945.08. Most Canadian gold and silver miners gained ground today, some with gusto. One of those was Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM), which added 84 cents to $10.28 on 2.13 million shares. One of the few laggards was Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG), which lost 12 cents to $34.05 on 1.43 million shares.
Joseph Ovsenek's P2 Gold Inc. (PGLD) jumped nine cents to 84 cents on 1.79 million shares on a sneak peak of its feasibility plan for the Gabbs gold and copper project in Nevada. The company is proposing a nominal production rate of 12 million tonnes per year, up from nine million tonnes per year. It calls for heap leach production at 14 million tonnes per year for the first two years, with milling starting in the third year of mining, compared with the sixth year as proposed in last year's preliminary economic assessment.
