New York spot gold added $63.10 to $4,710.630 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 12.81 points to 968.70 while the TSX gold index added 6.50 points to 937.23. Wesdome Mines Inc. (WDO) was strong today, as it added $1.81 to $28.62 on 2.38 million shares. On the other hand, Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) fell $1.15 to $48.86 on 1.95 million shares and Soma Gold Corp. (SOMA) lost eight cents to $1.70 on 198,000 shares.
Tara Christie's Banyan Gold Corp. (BYN), up four cents to $1.27 on 1.54 million shares, continues to drill up a storm at its AurMac project in Yukon. The latest assays are from 15 new holes, seven drilled into the main Powerline deposit and eight that probed the Eastern Powerline area at Aurex Hill. The headline hit came from the main area, where a 9.9-metre intercept graded 1.55 grams of gold per tonne and a deeper 18.7-metre interval graded 0.84 gram per tonne. A second hole also yielded noteworthy results. Both holes probed an area previously classified as waste.
