New York spot gold added $89.620 Friday, ending the week at $5,169.90. The TSX Venture Exchange lost more ground today, dropping 3.12 points to 1,057.04. The TSX gold index struggled most of the day and ended the session down 4.68 points to 973.33. Shareholders of Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) were in a dour mood, as their stock lost 32 cents to $6.76 on 301,000 shares. Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) kept it company, retreating 28 cents to $11.24 on 21.83 million shares. There was some northbound motion, however: Atico Mining Corp. (ATY) added four cents to 36.5 cents on 376,000 shares.
It is not a new abduction, just new confirmation of the fate that appears to have befallen all 10 of the Vizsla Silver Corp. (VZLA) workers abducted late in January from the company's Panuco project in Mexico, the company said today. In mid-February, Vizsla received word from the families and authorities that five had been found dead. Today comes word that two more are confirmed dead, leaving three still unaccounted for -- but presumed dead. Vizsla's stock neared $10 when the abductions and murders occurred, but it dipped below $5 by mid-February.
