New York spot gold added another $102.20 today, reaching $4,933.60. The TSX Venture Exchange jumped 39.57 points to 1,134.19 while the TSX gold index added 32.36 points to -- yowza! -- 1,002.19. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) led a strong cadre of Canadian precious metals miners higher, as it leapt $1.81 to $18.75 on 3.98 million shares. A share could be had for just $13 two weeks ago. SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) also did well, adding $3.83 to $35.82 on 1.25 million shares.

One that did not do well was Jack Lundin's Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN). It shed $4 to $32.67 on 13.16 million shares, but did so on news. Mr. Lundin, president and chief executive officer, was "proud to report" that his company hit its production guidance for the third year running, and Lundin Mining says that its guidance for the three years to come "remains firmly on track." And so, with no surprise to the upside, then, now or ahead, investors appeared miffed.
