New York spot gold retreated Thursday, dropping $12 to $4,614.20. The TSX Venture Exchange retreated 3.79 points to 1,086.54 but the TSX gold index rose another 2.41 points to 942.04. Asante Gold Corp. (ASE) was silent and grumpy, as it shed nine cents to $1.79 on 3.08 million shares, off an intraday low of $1.65. Robex Resources Inc. (RBX), also silent but poised to merge with Australia-based Predictive Discovery Ltd., slid 24 cents to $5.86 on 286,000 shares. Robex, $6.35 yesterday, saw $5.60 this morning. Minera Alamos Inc. (MAI) was chatty and cheerful: It rose 21 cents to $6.39 on 1.55 million shares on word its Pan mine is doing better than expected.
Ewan Webster's Thesis Gold Inc. (TAU) rose 14 cents to $2.84 on 1.2 million shares. The company has filed the technical report covering its prefeasibility study of the Lawyers-Ranch project in northwestern British Columbia. It is now mulling some big-ticket recommendations for further work, presumably ahead of a full feasibility study. The bulk of the proposed budget, which is just short of $49-million, covers the costs of a two-phase drill program.
