New York spot fell $6.10 Thursday, hitting its afternoon break at $4,331.20. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 9.62 points to 942.08 while the TSX gold index added 1.55 points to 815.49. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) gained $1.51 to $232.49 on 1.51 million shares and Barrick Mining Corp. (ABX) added 51 cents to $60.51 on 7.16 million shares. GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) was among those in retreat, as it dipped 12 cents to $2.83 on 3.05 million shares.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) fell four cents to $2.33 on 1.35 million shares on word that Rob McEwen, "a cornerstone strategic investor," has exercised all of his warrants, providing the company with $1.21-million and increasing his share count to 4.45 million. Goliath and Mr. McEwen were mum about the exercise price and how many warrants were exercised, but they would have been among Goliath's 2.35 million warrants, exercisable at 85 cents, which were set to expire in a few days.
