New York spot gold added $5.60 to $4,207.70 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.54 points to 948.54 while the TSX gold index rose 6.60 points to 783.56. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) helped lead those on a northbound march, as it added 10 cents to $6.35 on 5.79 million shares in silence. Mum was also the word at Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX), but it shed three cents to 69 cents on 3.42 million shares. Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) has been newsless since October, but it was unchanged at $12.96 on nine million shares today.
Paul Andre Huet's Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) slid five cents to $6.25 on 2.51 million shares on word that it has sold 33.06 million shares in a bought-deal financing at $4 (U.S.) per share -- about $5.58 in Canadian currency -- which raked in $132.25-million (U.S.). This was to have been a $65-million (U.S.) placement in mid-November, but the company upped the offering to $115-million (U.S.) just a few hours later, citing "strong investor demand."
