New York spot gold added $1.10 to $4,206.50 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 6.67 points to 943 while the TSX gold index fell 6.51 points to 776.96. Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) had a tough day in silence, dropping 65 cents to $18.80 on 2.43 million shares, but some Canadian gold miners moved northward today. Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) added seven cents to $1.66 on 16.7 million shares today while Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC) gained $1.30 to $30.65 on 1.26 million shares -- both making their moves on the quiet.
Matthew Wilcox's Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) fell 48 cents to $4.39 on 177,000 shares on word that Perseus Mining Ltd. (PRU) has made a superior offer for all the shares of Australia-listed Predictive Discovery Ltd. Robex and Predictive said two months ago that they would complete a "merger of equals" -- a deal that would have Robex's shareholders get 8.667 Predictive shares for each of theirs, which would give Robex's shareholders a 49-per-cent share of the expanded company.
