New York spot gold retreated $21.50 to $4,209.10 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.58 points to 936.33 while the TSX gold index slumped 15.80 points to 783.47. Canada's gold miners struggled to stay buoyant in a sea of red. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) lost 24 cents to $12.92 on 6.48 million shares while Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) slid $1.23 to $50.58 on 1.09 million shares. They had plenty of company: B2Gold Corp. (BTO) fell 21 cents to $6.20 on 12.41 million shares, while SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) lost $1.10 to $30.34 on 375,000 shares.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT), down nine cents to $2.55 on 553,000 shares, has drilled a 10-metre interval grading 5.85 grams of gold per tonne within a reduced intrusion related gold (RIRG) dike at Surebet, on its Golddigger property in northwestern British Columbia. Much of the gold sat within a 4.02-metre zone that ran 12.75 grams per tonne. There were other high-grade zones in these 10 latest holes, including 15.13 grams per tonne across three metres in a second and 9.24 grams per tonne over 3.05 metres in a third.
