New York spot gold fell $4.40 to $3,367.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 4.79 points to 711.18 while the TSX gold index dipped 1.35 points to 503.52. Some precious metals miners listed in Canada did well today, while others struggled. Among the latter, Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) dropped 26 cents to $6.44 on 3.05 million shares and Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) fell 26 cents to $5.66 on 1.39 million shares. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) led the advance, gaining 16 cents to $9.39 on 1.55 million shares. None had news today.

Marco Roque's Cassiar Gold Corp. (GLDC) had a good day, jumping 3.5 cents to 26.5 cents on 476,000 shares on word it is offering 13.89 million flow-through shares at 36 cents each, seeking $5-million in new exploration cash. The money raised will be directed at the company's Cassiar gold project in Northern British Columbia. The news of the private placement comes on the heels of a resource update for Cassiar, now just a week old, and it comes concurrently with a promotional salvo the company fired across the Internet.
