New York spot gold added $11.30 to $1,831.50 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 5.64 points to 533.54 while the TSX gold index added 4.5 points to 254.33. Most Canadian gold miners edged upward today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) rose 82 cents to $61.63 on 1.31 million shares and Newmont Corp. (NGT) rose $1.84 to $51.69 on 498,000 shares. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) was energetic, adding 32 cents to $8.58 on 22,000 shares, but Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) was a laggard, dropping five cents to $6.30 on 1.04 million shares.

Michael Hodgson's thin-trading Serabi Gold PLC (SBI), unchanged at 40.5 cents on 2,000 shares on Tuesday, has an updated resource estimate for its Palito complex in Para, Brazil. The company lists 1.17 million tonnes measured and indicated at 10.08 grams of gold per tonne and 682,000 tonnes inferred at seven grams per tonne, a total of 531,000 ounces of gold. The ore is spread across two deposits, with nearly all of it in the Palito deposit, while the Sao Chico deposit is home to about 40,000 of the ounces.
