New York spot gold fell $3.30 to $1,913.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 2.9 points to 581.23 while the TSX gold index fell 1.97 points to 269.08. Ero Copper Corp. (ERO), down yesterday against the trend, was up today. Ero, a Brazilian gold miner in addition to its copper operations, rose 13 cents to $28.07 on 294,000 shares. Karora Resources Inc. (KRR) went the other way, dropping 16 cents to $4.30 on 295,000 shares.

Today was the first day of trading for Thesis Gold Inc. (TAU) after it -- stay with us here -- acquired Thesis Gold Inc. Thesis has dropped its former name, Benchmark Metals Inc., adopting the moniker of its corporate target. The company also rolled back its stock on a 1:2.6 basis. Thesis Gold -- the former Benchmark that is -- added four cents to 69 cents on 34,000 shares following the moves. Benchmark launched its takeover of old Thesis in June, offering nearly 2.56 shares for each Thesis share, a premium of about 26 per cent that gave Thesis's shareholders about 40 per cent of new Thesis's stock.
