New York spot gold rose $10.10 to $1,964.20 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 3.19 points to 615.18 while the TSX gold index gained 3.59 points to 290.94. Most Canadian gold miners gained altitude today. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) rose 49 cents to $11.99 on 47,000 shares and Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) jumped $1.20 to $30.04 on 773,000 shares. Neither company had news today. Also silent was Galiano Gold Inc. (GAU), which fell three cents to 83 cents on 568,000 shares.

Ari Sussman's Collective Mining Ltd. (CNL) fell 13 cents to $6 on 162,000 shares on word it has hit a 270-metre interval averaging 1.08 grams of gold and 34 grams of silver per tonne plus 0.45 per cent copper in the Apollo zone at its Guayabales project in Colombia. The hit, which began at surface, was one of five new holes with assays, three of which tested Apollo, all with solid hits.

Two of the five holes tested Target 1, southwest of the Apollo porphyry system at Guayabales. One was a miss, but the other yielded a 51.15-metre interval at depth that averaged 1.46 grams of gold and 13 grams of silver per tonne plus 0.1 per cent copper. The Target 1 drilling is "outlining a new porphyry discovery," the company cheers, adding that as a result, Collective is moving to drill a fan of holes over a target area spanning at least 350 metres along strike, and which is open for expansion.
