New York spot gold dipped $2.10 Friday, closing at $1,751.60. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped another 9.07 points to 885.83 while the TSX gold index lost 0.82 point to 274.05, its lowest point since early March. Major changes were few among Canadian gold miners. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) did recover 27 cents of Thursday's 36-cent decline, ending the day at $3.84 on 1.32 million shares. While the moves were modest, there were a few busy traders. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) lost eight cents to $6.98 on 15.15 million shares and Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) lost eight cents to $23.38 on 12.16 million shares. Neither company had news today.
One Canadian miner with news today -- late Thursday, technically -- was Anthony Makuch's Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (KL). Kirkland lost 13 cents to $52.54 on 3.07 million shares on word that it has declared an 18.75-U.S.-cent quarterly dividend that will be paid in mid-October. This, cheers Mr. Makuch, president and chief executive officer, is the 18th consecutive quarterly dividend that will be paid since Kirkland set a dividend policy in early 2017.
