New York spot gold jumped $28.20 Thursday, ending the day at $1,764.60. The TSX Venture Exchange followed suit, adding 14.16 points to close at 938.82 while the TSX gold index surged 12.41 points to 310.07. Most Canadian gold miners leapt higher on bullion's rally, with Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) gaining 27 cents to $5.95 on 5.1 million shares and Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) rising $2.05 to $42.70 on 1.05 million shares.
