The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a mediocre 80-96-144 as the TSX Venture Exchange dipped one points to 845. Pat Ryan's Ucore Rare Metals Inc. (UCU) has been silent for over a month and it took it on the chin today, sliding 17 cents to $1.99 on 1.1 million shares.
Natasha Dixon's Mink Ventures Corp. (MINK) was unchanged at 7.5 cents on 1,000 shares. The company has drilled a 2.1-metre near-surface interval grading 0.57 per cent nickel, 0.88 per cent copper and 0.076 per cent cobalt in a new zone on its Rankin property, near Timmins in Northern Ontario. Much of the nickel sat in the upper 0.5 metre, with 0.94 per cent nickel and 0.12 per cent cobalt, as well as 0.81 per cent copper. That subinterval was followed by a 0.6-metre stretch with 1.31 per cent copper.
There were results from three other holes, but none of them intersected mineralization. With the success of the first hole, Mink drilled a second hole looking to undercut it, but it was a bust. The company took a third crack at the Anomaly A target with a reoriented hole, but it failed to hit mineralization. The final hole tested the Anomaly B target, but it was foiled by some dastardly geology as well, as the upper plate of interest appeared to be cut off by a diabase dike.
