The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a positive 96-72-152 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 920. Homeland Nickel Inc. (SHL), an Oregon nickel explorer, was a busy -- and productive -- beaver today. It jumped five cents to 52 cents on 1.89 million shares. Last week, the company said that its plan for sonic drilling at Red Flat had been approved by the U.S. Forest Service.

Frontier Lithium Inc. (FL) rose three cents to 48 cents on 380,000 shares. The company has reupped a convertible loan that matured late last month. The original loan, for $3.35-million, was provided in early 2025 by a company affiliated with Rick Walker, Frontier's chairman and the father of its president and chief executive officer, Trevor Walker. The loan accrued interest at the Canadian overnight repo rate average plus 3 per cent, about 5.5 per cent at last report, with the interest to be paid at maturity.
