The critical and specialty minerals box score for Tuesday was a positive 92-84-134 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 960. Steve Gray's Fox Tungsten Ltd. (FOXT) jumped 1.5 cents to 19 cents on 214,000 shares. The company has received an exemption and other authorizations from the British Columbia government, allowing it to construct a new access trail to its Fox tungsten project in south-central British Columbia. Along with the Fox multiyear area-based permit, the documents allow the company to explore its project into early 2031.

The new trail, the company cheers, will provide safer and more reliable access for personnel, equipment and supplies while improving operational efficiency and reducing its reliance on helicopter support. The ability to work more frugally does come with an added expense: The exemption requires Fox Tungsten to support a regional caribou monitoring program to the tune of about $300,000 over the next five years. Mind you, $60,000 per year goes quickly when one is shelling out roughly $3,000 an hour for a helicopter.
