The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was an upbeat 101-63-146 as the TSX Venture Exchange added 16 points to 875. Mathew Wilson's Sterling Metals Corp. (SAG) added two cents to 95 cents on 61,000 shares. The company has drilled molybdenum-rich breccia beneath its MEPS discovery zone, on the Soo copper project near Batchewana Bay, just north of Sault Ste. Marie in Northern Ontario.

The latest hole produced a 358-metre zone grading 0.32 per cent copper, along with 237 grams of molybdenum, 2.27 grams of silver and 0.04 gram of gold per tonne. The 57-metre molybdenum-rich subinterval, which held 0.21 per cent copper and modest precious metals grades, was accompanied by 1,077 grams of molybdenum per tonne. Two other holes yielded mineralization as well.

Jeremy Niemi, senior vice-president of exploration and evaluation -- and apparently of promotion as well -- led the applause. He cheered that the results build directly on the progress reported in the previous holes -- same old, in other words -- "and continue to strengthen our confidence in the MEPS discovery and our geological model." He and his crew continue to show broad, near-surface copper mineralization at MEPS, he glows, noting that the headline hole intersected the more concentrated, higher-grade copper zones toward which they have been vectoring.
