The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a 92-92-126 draw as the TSX Venture Exchange fell five points to 1,012. Focus Graphite Inc. (FMS) said on Thursday that it has hired engineering consultants to evaluate road and electrical access for its Lac Knife project in northeastern Quebec. There was little attention paid by investors at the time, as Focus managed to add a cent to 40 cents on just 350,000 shares combined on Thursday and Friday. Today, however, Focus fell 6.5 cents to 33.5 cents on 2.27 million shares.
Matthew Wood and Ali Haji's Lithium Ion Energy Ltd. (ION) lost one-half cent to 4.5 cents on 86,000 shares Friday and went untraded today. The company has sold 35.24 million shares at four cents apiece, raising $1.41-million. Some shares went to insiders, with Mr. Wood, executive chairman, and fellow directors, Sreenath Didugu and Robert Payment, buying a cumulative 3.25 million shares. (It sounds more bullish than it is -- all three fellows invested a total of just $130,000 in the placement.)
